Who is Chris Rowney?

Chris Rowney served as the Senior Pastor of Torquay Christian Fellowship on the Surfcoast of Australia for more than 15 years until mid 2018 when he began a transition from the role of Lead Pastor for Teaching and Vision at TCF to create an opportunity to prepare a series of resources based around some of the key themes of his teaching ministry

He was born in the 60s and grew up in a rural city in NSW Australia, feeling called to ministry as a teenager, he began pastoral ministry in Torquay, VIC, in 2003. Prior to that Chris, along with his wife Robyn, worked in the publishing industry, pioneering a digital prepress business in Canberra ACT.

Selling the business to pursue his calling to pastoral ministry, Chris lived and studied in the US in the late 90s, and has since completed postgraduate studies in Theology in Australia with a research focus on how beliefs about Jesus as human and divine shape the way people practice their faith.

Chris will read anything put in front of him, and has a love of photography, word puzzles/games, history and science, and leading and listening to live worship

ABBA* : Thank you for the muse...

“A Torrent of Clichés” and “As superficial and monotonous as the music at its centre” Read The Age Article Here... I don't usually comment before reading or watching something for myself, but these lines, from the New York Times and Newsday's critics of the movie Hillsong: Let Hope Rise brought an image to mind as […]

Is this "Pasta" for real

A few days ago this article appeared in the local press, of someone being photographed in their "Pastafarian" garb of wearing a colander on their head for use on their drivers licence. http://m.theage.com.au/…/pastafarian-gets-victorian-drivers… Now I appreciate, and actually find both amusing and poignant, the Flying Spaghetti Monster concept and the arguments it makes against religious […]

How can there be a God in a world of such horrors?

In recent weeks the most harrowing stories have come to light of incidents in the north of Iraq and Syria where death is not just commonplace, but death of the most brutal kind.  On some forums there are those who repeat the refrain "Where is God in all this?" or "How can there be a […]
